As a business owner, it can sometimes be hard to stay focused at work. Whether you’re trying to concentrate on a project or just get through the day without getting distracted, it is important to take care of yourself and your mental health so that you can do your work to the best of your abilities. One way to make sure you stay focused is by practicing mindfulness.
mindfulness
Mindfulness is simply being aware of what’s happening around you in the present moment. It’s about taking a step back from the chaos of everyday life and focusing on what’s happening right now. It has a lot of benefits for productivity at work and overall wellbeing.
If you’re feeling distracted, take a deep breath and try to centre yourself self by closing your eyes and focusing on your breathing for a few moments before returning to work. This is a simple way to regain focus without having to stop what you’re doing for a long time.
Try to avoid multitasking as much as possible by focusing on one thing at a time without worrying about anything else.
Take breaks
Ensure to take breaks throughout the day whenever possible, even if it’s just walking around outside for 5 minutes or going into another room for a few minutes. If you work from home, a change of scenery is necessary to prevent staring constantly at the computer screen. This gives your mind time to rest and recharge itself so you are ready to complete the next task without feeling overwhelmed by any distractions. It is important to eat healthy food during lunch time so that you have more energy during the afternoon hours when you might be feeling tired.
Get into routine
Getting into a routine is one of the most important things to help stay focused throughout the day. Try to dedicate half an hour each morning to check emails. As a business owner, you might use social media a lot therefore it is necessary to set additional time aside throughout the day to create posts and respond to messages.
Phone notifications
Turning off notifications on your personal phone helps a lot throughout the day. Having a business phone number which is separate from your personal phone number is great so if you receive a call, you can be certain it is business related.
Get Organised & Avoid Distractions
Your workspace should be organised so that when you’re working on a project or task, there isn’t anything else distracting you from it.
Using headphones to block out distractions could also help a lot. If you’re easily distracted by background noises, listening to music or a podcast will ensure you do not hear anything else that might be happening outside of your office room.
